How much do you charge?
- $10.00 per 100 GB scanned.
- $10.00 per trip to pick up or drop off the drive anywhere between Santa Maria, CA, and Buellton, CA. It may be cheaper to mail it using a flat-rate box or envelope from the USPS.
- $10.00 to take out the drive if you need me to, and $10.00 to put it back in. You can save this money by doing it yourself if you feel capable of doing so.
- $5.00 per 100 GB wiped.
- $2.00 per DVD if you don't send me another drive for your recovered files.
Why do other people and companies charge so much more for this service?
- Because it's their primary source of income. They depend on their prices. I don't. I do this because I enjoy it and only use it to supplement my income.
How do I get the files back?
- You can either buy and send me an external hard drive (there are some pretty cheap choices out there, and this allows you to completely control the cost of this portion), or I can burn the information to DVDs for you for $2.00 apiece.
- Keep 2 things in mind: DVDs hold around 8 GB per disc, and so if you have 80 GB of information recovered (which is average), that’s about 10 discs, or $20.00. Not much in the grand scheme of things, but you could instead put that money toward a larger, reusable external drive.
- Please keep in mind something else: if your hard drive has failed, I can recover whatever files are still on the drive, but not the operating system.
- Your laptop should have come with DVDs to reinstall the OS in just this type of event. If you don’t have those DVDs, you’ll have to buy a new OS for your machine regardless what I do. You can get XP on eBay for next to nothing.
I have some *ahem* sensitive files on my computer that may cast my character in an unflattering light...
- Who doesn't? Most of the amatuer porn sites on the Internet are likely loaded with files stolen from people just like you. But you don't have to worry. My discretion with your information is what sets me apart from many other data recovery sites. Any file that I recover from your old drive goes right back to you and nobody else. I can wipe your old drive if you've decided to trash it, and I wipe my drive after each customer. The data is destroyed. Period.
- Your information is your business. I wouldn't be around very long if I were misusing your information. You'll just have to take my word for it.
